Boulevard Social JUL 2012 Helsinki

Seems like everything Tomi Björk and Matti Wikberg touches turns into gold. This was proved again when visiting their third and newest restaurant Boulevard Social. The restaurant is located on Bulevardi #6 next to their second restaurant Gaijing. This seems to be the hottest restaurant in town at the moment. We walked in on a Wednesday evening at 6pm in July without a reservation and the restaurant was of course full. We luckily managed to get seats in the corner of the bar. This turned out to be a good solution as we were entertained by watching the bartender prepare cocktails the entire evening. The concept of sharing the dishes is the same as in Farang and Gaijing but the asian cuisine has been set aside and now they are concentrating on very tasty Mediterranean food. I can´t remember so far ever seeing so much service staff in a restaurant in Finland at a restaurant this size. This is of course a good thing. Could be that this was due to Farang being closed during the month of July so maybe some of that staff was relocated. Also if you look carefully into the kitchen you might spot a couple of TV chefs. At least a Top Chef contender, a Top Chef winner and a Masterchef winner so there seems to be a very talented team gathered together.

On offer is 2 set menus and a selection of a la carte dishes. We chose the Social tasting menu with a couple of additional desserts. The food and service was great as expected! A reservation is also highly recommended.
